The show is set in 1970, 1974, 1983, 2003 and 2005.
Based upon the 2008 book of the same title, by Kristin Hannah. The sequel is called Fly Away.
Katherine Heigl (Tully) was born in 1978, while Beau Garrett (who plays Tully's mother, Cloud) was born in 1982.
Chelah Horsdal (Margie) and Quinn Lord (Sean) also play mother and son in the Amazon series The Man In The High Castle (2015).
Both Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl were in medical TV shows produced by ABC. Chalke was in Scrubs (2001-2010) and Heigl was in Grey's Anatomy (2005-). Sarah Chalke also appears in Grey's Anatomy as a concerned mother fighting for her child, although it's in later seasons in which Heigl doesn't appear.
