TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

In 2017, actor Mukesh Rishi revealed that he felt ashamed while saying his character Bulla's dialogues. There was a mixed feeling of shame and guilt, and he constantly questioned himself why he was doing this in the first place.

Upon its release in 1998, the film was withdrawn from theaters because the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) received complaints from college girls who felt offended by the violence and vulgarity in the film.

According to Deepak Shirke, who played politician Bachubhai, the film was shot without a script. The director Kanti Shah visited him and narrated the story in one line, following which he instantly agreed to do the film.

The original title of the film was Goondagiri but later changed to Gunda.

Widely regarded as one of the most poetic films in Indian history, owing to the rhymes used by the central characters.

Popular Dialogues

"Bulla: [Repeated line] My name is Bulla - and I keep it open."

"Pote: My name is Pote, who is not loyal even to his dad"
