For the US to get this site, they must compete in the brutal "Game". The government calls on Cabot, the son of a former operative, to win the game. The film debut of Kurt Thomas, a former Olympic gymnast and his only starring role in his career.

The film's source material ("The Terrible Game" by Dan Tyler Moore) was originally published in 1957. A film version of the book was originally planned in the early-1960s as a Rock Hudson vehicle, but never got off the ground.

Tetchie Agbayani was a former Playboy model.

Richard Norton was also the film's stunt coordinator and choreographer.

The film's title refers to the combination of Gymnastics training and Karate martial arts. Kurt Thomas is a real life gymnast and for the film had to combine both attributes for his role.
