The entire movie was shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera.
Jeremy Piven, Carla Gugino, and Sasha Grey all appeared in HBO's Entourage.
The scene where Rich (Thomas Jane) and Tim (Christian Mcakay) are joy riding in the porshe is a clear nod to Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange' wherein Tim starts 'Whooping' in similarity to the Durango speeding scene of 'Clockwork'..only sealing it with "Go Faster..got faster!"
Even though the four main characters are all supposed to be 44 years old, none of the actors portraying them were that age during filming. Rob Lowe was the eldest at 46, Jeremy Piven was 45, Thomas Jane was 41 and Christian McKay was the youngest at 37. In an obvious attempt to reconcile the last discrepancy, Jane's character at one point says to McKay's "God, you don't age! You got a painting of yourself in an attic somewhere?", referencing Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Except with my wife after long fishing trips. She died 11 years ago. Cancer. So I spent most of my days out here, just drifting around trying to figure things out. I realized I was lucky to have felt something that looked or smelled... or resembled real love. Most folks never taste that. Tim: I tasted it, and it made every day annointed. Nothing mattered when we were together. And when we were apart, I felt him. I felt him, like my own breath. Captain Bob: Do you believe in heaven? Tim: I wish I did."
