TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

When director Peter Berg was trying to get Marcus Luttrell to assist with the making of the movie Lone Survivor, Berg told Luttrell to watch his movie The Kingdom, and if he didn't like it, Berg said he would not bother Luttrell again.

Jennifer Garner collapsed on the set in Phoenix twice due to the extremely high temperature, over 115 degrees Fahrenheit / 46 degrees Celsius.

The end of the movie dedicates it to Tom Aguilar, Lance Gunnin and Nick Papac, all crew members who died during production. Tom Aguilar (prop maker) died one week after being admitted to the hospital for stomach pain and subsequently discovering he had prostate cancer. Lance Gunnin (construction worker) was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to the set. Nick Papac (prop master) died in an on-set collision between his Gator all-terrain vehicle and an SUV.

Originally, this film was much longer and larger in scope, running approximately two and half hours, and this is the cut that director Peter Berg wanted to release, which featured more character development and more dramatic overtones to the story. Universal balked at the idea and forced Berg to cut down the film to its current length, much to his dismay.

During the intro, the scene with people playing in an outdoor pool is actual home-movie footage of the ARAMCO community pool at the Recreation Center in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Popular Dialogues

"Attorney General Gideon Young: I'm gonna bury you. FBI Director James Grace: You know, Westmoreland made all of us officers write our own obituaries during Tet, when we thought The Cong were gonna end it all right there. And, once we clued into the fact that life is finite, the thought of losing it didn't scare us anymore. The end comes no matter what, the only thing that matters is how do you wanna go out, on your feet or on your knees? I bring that lesson to this job. I act, knowing that someday this job will end, no matter what. You should do the same."

"[last lines] Adam Leavitt: Fleury. Tell me what you whispered to Janet, in the briefing, to get her to stop crying about Fran, you know, before all this, before we even got airborne. What'd you say to her? Aunt: Tell me, what did your grandfather whisper in your ear before he died? Adam Leavitt: You remember? Ronald Fleury: I told her we were gonna kill 'em all. 15-Year-Old Grandson: Don't fear them, my child. We are going to kill them all."
