Judge Krishna (Rahul Roy) and Radha (Manisha Koirala) are in love. Due to class conflicts, they are unable to marry, but continue with a very intimate relationship, which results in Radha getting pregnant. Then Gopal (Salman Khan) enters Radha's life, and he falls in love with her. Radha, who is still in love with Krishna, is unable to express her feelings for Gopal. Circumstances become favorable for Gopal and he succeeds in marrying Radha, and subsequently, Radha gives birth to a baby girl, Shanti. Leaving the child with Gopal, Radha then leaves him, never to return. Krishna and Gopal meet and become close friends, little knowing of their mutual love. Why did Radha leave Gopal? The film originally started during 1992 and then completed in 1994. Due to a dispute between the writer and producer over the ending of the film was delayed and didn't get a release till 1996.
The film was titled "Majhdhaar" during production .The CD's were also released under this title. By the time the film released, the title was changed to "Yeh Majhdhaar", though the title "Majhdhaar" appears on the screen when the film starts.
When the film was launched in 1991, it was titled "Ae Mere Dost" Starring Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Divya Bharti. Divya Bharti's was replaced by Malvika Tiwari. Later Arbaaz was replaced by Rahul Roy and Karishma Kapoor by Manisha Koirala.
This and Khamoshi which released in same year both starring Salman Khan and Manisha. They worked before in Sangdil Sanam too.
Since the distributors were showing no interest in the film. The plan was to air the film of Doordarshan in March 1995 and then see if any distributor would be willing to release it theatrically. The mentality was that if the audience would enjoy the film on TV,they would re watch in the theatre . That plan was dropped eventually .
