Chris Rock was offered the part of Dr. S but turned it down. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rock said "It's the worst script I've ever gotten... I'd have been happier getting an envelope full of anthrax."
Lisa Kudrow expressed in 2008 that the best part about doing the film was getting to work and talk with Damon Wayans, whom she said is a really smart person. He was helpful and supportive, as she was working 17 hours a day on the film while helping her young son adjust to their recent move to New York.
