TRIVIA

Trivia

O.G. was filmed in a prison with prisoners acting many of the parts.

This film would face criticism in the years after it's release when the fact that it was directed and produced by Madeleine Sackler became more well known. Sackler is an heiress to the family who owns Purdue, the drug manufacturer that created and marketed OxyContin. Their unethical and illegal business practices would later receive most of the blame for creating and exacerbating the opioid epidemic of the early 21st century in America. The lack of disclosure regarding this would lead to a storm of criticism over this film, with star Jeffrey Wright later criticizing the film himself, calling it "fundamentally flawed."
