Sir Sean Connery took just $60,000 as his salary for this movie, as he was keen to play a character his age in a relationship with someone his own age. This was a far cry from the $14 million he earned on The Rock (1996).
Originally titled "Dancing About Architecture". The movie still contains the line from which this title was taken: "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture."
Ryan Phillippe didn't tell the filmmakers that he was going to dye his hair blue. The first they knew of it was when he turned up on set on the day of filming with his hair a different color. Most of the cast and crew were taken aback, but writer and director Willard Carroll liked it. Coincidentally, Angelina Jolie dyed her hair on the same day.
This movie contains spoilers for Midnight Lace (1960), Citizen Kane (1941), Psycho (1960), and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959).
In 2016, during an interview, after being asked about kissing Jon Stewart and David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson declared not remembering kissing Stewart, while she gave an "8" to Duchovny.
"Paul: The wonderful thing about falling in love is you learn everything about that person and so quickly. And if it's true love, then you start to see yourself through their eyes. And it brings out the best in you. It's almost as if you're falling in love with yourself."
"Keenan: What did I ever do to deserve you? Joan: Usually that line is screamed at me by someone running out the door, not by someone standing in front of me and staying. It makes for a nice change."
