YouTube sensation Lars Andersen of Denmark was hired to teach the cast archery. Lars Andersen is famous for creating a YouTube video where he demonstrates extraordinary archery skills, earning him the nickname 'Real-Life Legolas'. Most notably, Lars is able to hit incoming arrows in flight and shoot and hit 3 marks while performing a single jump from the ground. To increase his speed he uses an ancient technique that requires him to shoot with his draw and not cross the arrow on the bow like modern archers do. This technique is used by Robin in the film.
Shooting for this film was postponed so that Taron Egerton could film Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) first. The director wanted Egerton as Robin Hood so much that he decided to postpone filming so that he could still play the title character.
Taron Egerton is so afraid of horse riding that he did not ride horses in this film, not in any single scene - he stated in an interview later.
The set and costume designers were instructed to make everything one-third historically correct, one-third contemporary, and one-third futuristic, to achieve the movie's unique look.
The film omits two of the most commonly used character in Robin Hood adaptations: Prince John and King Richard.
"Marian: You call that a disguise? Robin of Loxley: Well it fooled everybody else!"
"Yahya: You are only powerless if you believe you are powerless."
