Janhvi Kapoor first gained 6kg for 'Gunjan Saxena : The Kargil Girl' , then lost 10kg for 'Roohi Afza'. Later, she again had to put on weight before she had to report back on sets of the Gunjan Saxena biopic.
Roohi Afzana (2021) marks the third collaboration between actors Rajkummar Rao and Alexx O'Nell after Chittagong (2012) and Bose: Dead/Alive (2017).
Janhvi Kapoor will be seen playing a double role, as Roohi Arora and Afsana Bedi.
Shamur song "Gonna Make It' sampled Gaudi song "Sufani" and "Let The Music Play". The song was later remade as "Nadiyon Paar" in Roohi.
The film is one of the first Bollywood projects to arrive in theatres after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting allowed cinema halls across the country to operate at full capacity from February 1, 2021 with adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.
