Lead stars Paula Prentiss and Richard Benjamin were married. The two were later star-teamed in the telemovie Packin' It In (1983), and Prentiss appeared uncredited in Mrs. Winterbourne (1996) which Benjamin directed.

None of the cast returned for the movie's sequel Saturday the 14th Strikes Back (1988), but the two movies did share several crew members including the same producer, director, composer, and a writer.
This is one of a number of slasher movie spoofs made and released during the early 1980s that parodied the current cycle of films in that genre. The movies include Hysterical (1983), Wacko (1982), Pandemonium (1982), Student Bodies (1981), Class Reunion (1982), and Saturday the 14th (1981).
The address of the house is 329 Elm Street. While the use of "Elm Street" may seem like just another parody in the mix, this film came out three years before A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984).
