There had been plans for a third Steptoe film, but they were abandoned after this film performed less well at the box office than its predecessor.
The graffiti in and around the tower block lift includes "Lovely Big Tits Heather", "Knocker Swill Phil" and "Slippery Phil £.S.D." Tellingly the set dresser was Philip Cowlam whilst the make-up artist was Heather Nurse.
A piece of graffiti sprayed on a tower-block wall reads "Tory backrents must go", a protest against unfairly high rates charged by private landlords, something which was outlawed the following year. The word "Tory" (Conservative) was crudely smudged-out by the production team, but still visible.
Albert Ladysmith Steptoe was born on February 10th 1901.
The Steptoes live at 26A Oil Drum Lane.
