TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Filmed simultaneously with "The Reptile (1966)," in August and September of 1965, using many of the same sets, most noticeably the main village set on the back lot at Bray Studios.

Originally shown (in London) in a double billing with "Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966)."

Before allowing the film to be released, the B.B.F.C instructed "Hammer" to trim one or two scenes. Amongst them, the scene where Andre Morell decapitates the zombie in the graveyard with a shovel had to be reduced from showing four blows with the weapon to just the one.

Diane Clare's voice is dubbed in this movie.

Interestingly, the Forbes's mansion is portrayed by Heatherden Hall at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. The mansion and its lavish gardens have been showcased in many of the film productions based there, not unlike the exposure that Down Place (a.k.a. Bray Studios) received during "Hammer"'s occupation of the site. Heatherden Hall and its gardens were perhaps most famously showcased as "SPECTRE Island" in the second EON Productions produced James Bond film "From Russia With Love" (1963).

Popular Dialogues

"Sir James Forbes: Someone in this village is practicing witchcraft. That corpse wandering on the moors is an undead, a zombie."

"Sir James Forbes: "High-ate-ee" is how he pronounces Haiti."
