TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

According to Mira Nair, on the first day of shooting in the tea shop, one of the main actors in the scene refused to say their lines the way that had been previously discussed and rehearsed. This forced her to frantically rewrite the script in a race against the shooting schedule. While she did not name the actor specifically, it can be assumed that she was either talking about Liev Schreiber or Riz Ahmed.

"Changez" is a Pakistani version of Genghis, from Genghis Khan.

Shahid Kapoor was considered for the role of Changez.

With the exception of a few establishing shots, Pakistan was barely used for the shooting of the actual scenes, and instead most of the locations were recreated and shot in India.

The song, Bijli Aye Ya Na Aye is an Meesha Shafi's alternate version of the song Batti Aye Ya Na Aye, which is by her previous band Overload. This led to a dispute between Shafi and Overload, as to who owns the copyright of the song.

Popular Dialogues

"Changez: You picked a side after 9/11; I didn't have to. It was picked for me."

"Nazmi Kemal: Have you heard of the janissaries? Changez: No. Nazmi Kemal: They were Christian boys, captured by the Ottomans at an early age. They were educated to forget their own culture and trained to be soldiers in their army. Then, as fanatical Muslims, they were set loose on the Christian countries from which they were taken."
