TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Robin Hardy had originally written the part of Sir Lachlan Morrison for Sir Christopher Lee. However, while filming The Resident (2011), Lee injured his back after tripping over power cables on set. Although extremely disappointed, Hardy cast the actor who was originally playing Beame, Graham McTavish in Lee's role, with actor Clive Russell taking over the part of Beame. Still wanting to include Lee, Hardy quickly wrote a cameo role for him. He appeared as Sir Lachlan's mentor in a flashback.

Filming was due to start in September 2007, but the movie was delayed for financial reasons. It was later announced this movie would shoot from April 2008 in Dumfries and Galloway. A week before the shoot, Dumfries and Galloway Council announced the filming had been stopped due to financial reasons. Filming eventually started in July 2009 in Haddington, Gorebridge, Midlothian, and Dallas.

Dame Joan Collins was originally set to play Lady Delia Morrison when Sir Christopher Lee was to play Sir Lachlan Morrison. However, when Lee injured himself and was replaced by the much younger Graham McTavish, Collins was replaced with a younger actress, Jacqueline Leonard.

The Character Daisy, the Cook, played by Lesley Mackie, is the SAME Daisy from the 1973 Original The Wicker Man.

Popular Dialogues

"[last lines] Old Gentleman: But can fate be altered? This is a question that every religion has tried to answer, and the answer is almost certainly no. But we keep trying... Old Gentleman: Poor wee laddie... catching him is a game of chance!"

"Lady Delia Morrison: [seeing Beth in a classy dress] Ah, so that is what the modern missionaries are wearing these days. Or are you trying to tell us something, Beth? Beth Boothby: Okay, I'll admit it. I'm mad as hell at Steve. But you're throwing a party for me and I plan to enjoy it. Carla made the dress for me to wear after a gig. I don't know why I packed it. It must have been a premonition. Lady Delia Morrison: So, do you plan to forgive Steve? Say, tomorrow? You must remember to err is human; to forgive, divine. Beth Boothby: I'll probably forgive him in half an hour. You know why? Because I love that son of a bitch cowboy."
