Benedict Cumberbatch and Will Poulter were originally cast but they dropped out after the project was delayed and were replaced by Jack Huston and Alden Ehrenreich.

Based on the novel "The Yellow Birds" by Kevin Powers.

The tattoo on Sergeant Sterling's back is the Arabic word "kaffer", which means heretic.

Will Poulter was originally casted as Brandon Bartle, but dropped out to star in the Comedy 'War Machine' alongside Brad Pitt.

A first version of the movie headed by the producers was presented during the Sundance Film Festival. But following, the mixed reception of the audience, the movie was reedited by Moors point of view.
