  • Story:

WandaVision is a Marvel web series. It is a continuation of events after the Avengers Endgame. So after Vision dies when Thanos takes the mind stone, Wanda is left in despair. Wanda creates a world of her own using her magic. The series looks like a 50s sitcom at first. Wanda and Vision have now moved into this town called Westview. It seems they are trying to hide from certain people and avoid suspicion. They use their powers to make their own world and take up a certain persona. However, things start to go down. It looks like their world is glitching. But soon Wanda gets pregnant and gives birth to her two twins. Their names are Billy and Tommy. Vision gets suspicious about the weird events going around. So he starts snooping around to figure out things. The S.W.O.R.D agents find out about Wanda’s Hex and try to get through it. Although that’s not it, there are more secrets that unravel during the series.

    Why should you watch WandaVision?

This Marvel Series is part of phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It shows how powerful Wanda is and also portrays Vision’s strength. This is the continuation for the marvel fans and it also gives you hints about the upcoming events.

Talking about Wanda you will understand how powerful she is and what she will turn into by the end of the series. You should watch this series to know more about the ‘Scarlet Witch’ mystery. Who is Scarlet Witch and why does she exist and where has she been all this time. Throughout the series, you will see Wanda as a very desperate character who simply wants a family. Vision is a creation of Wanda but his character really shines through. The series is emotionally deep-rooted and amazingly directed. The series jumps between the 50s sitcom and a VFX rich world. You will love to see the parody ads and many other twists.

Another reason to give in to this binge is the star cast. The cast is filled with amazingly talented people. Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda) and Paul Bettany(Vision) are the protagonists. They are supported by Kat Denning, Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, and Kathryn Hahn. Apart from a stunning cast, you can also expect interesting cameos too.

    Trivia Alert

    • The production wanted to preserve the authenticity of the 50s sitcom. Therefore Paul Bettany who plays Vision was painted blue instead of maroon. This was done to bring out a better greyscale since blue looks better on greyscale.
    • This series has been adapted from original Marvel comics. ‘The Vision and Scarlet Witch’, ‘House of M’ and ‘The Vision’. These comics have been launching since 1998 and have been made into a comprehensive series.
    • You will only see the post-credit scenes after only three episodes. Episodes seven and eight and also in the final episode.

TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

As confirmed in Marvel Studios: Assembled: The Making of WandaVision (2021), the main sitcom homages for the show, in episode order, are The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961), Bewitched (1964), The Brady Bunch (1969), Family Ties (1982), Malcolm in the Middle (2000), and Modern Family (2009). The creators of the show have stated that they tried to focus on family sitcoms.

Agent Jimmy Woo produces his identification with a flick of the wrist, the card appearing in his hand as if by magic. This is a reference to the character's first appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) where he is shown to be instantly fascinated by Scott Lang's mastery of close-up magic, but completely unable to do any tricks himself.

Cinematographer Jess Hall used 47 different camera lenses for the seven time periods covered in WandaVision, many of which were modern lenses custom-modified to keep characteristics of the actual period lenses. Lighting was adjusted to align with the periods being portrayed. Tungsten lights were used in filming the 1950s-1970s era episodes, as they were commonly used in production during that period. LED light was used for scenes depicting the modern era, as Hall explained that was "the correct time line for when this equipment entered the filmmaking vocabulary."

In order to preserve the authenticity of the '50s era sitcom vibes the show was trying to capture, Bettany was painted blue for the scenes shot in black and white, rather than maroon, because blue looked better in grayscale.

Matt Shakman cites the alternate reality films The Truman Show (1998) and Pleasantville (1998) as an influence on the show.

Popular Dialogues

"Agatha: Am I dead? Vision: No! Why would you think that? Agatha: Because YOU are."

"Wanda Maximoff: We are an unusual couple, you know. Vision: Oh, I don't think that was ever in question."
