TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

When Matt Damon's character climbs over the tree the real Benjamin Mee, Milo Mee (Dylan in the movie) and Ella Mee (Rosie in the movie) can be seen as the first family in line. In the scene, Benjamin Mee is wearing what appears to be a Dartmoor Zoological Park cap, which is the actual zoo in England on which the movie is based.

When Benjamin first meets the staff, Kelly mentions that there is a weak enclosure between the jaguar and the tigers. In the real Dartmoor zoo the jaguar escaped into the tiger enclosure.

In the movie, the character Rosie refers to her dad, Benjamin Mee, as "more handsome" than the other dads because most of them don't have hair. The real Benjamin Mee is completely bald.

Cameron Crowe felt very guilty about having then-7 year old Maggie Elizabeth Jones use the word "dick" and was considering changing the line. Jones' mother told Crowe that Maggie had an uncle named Dick, so she just thought she was calling someone her uncle, and the line stayed.

At The Oscars (2017) in 2017, was the subject of a skit featuring host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel, who has had a long running joke feud with the film's star Matt Damon, described the "magical" experience of watching the film for the first time and said that it is the perfect summation of Matt Damon as an actor, as he tries so hard and makes it work despite having no talent whatsoever.

Popular Dialogues

"Benjamin Mee: You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it."

"[last lines] Benjamin Mee: Why would an amazing woman like you even talk to someone like me? Katherine Mee: Why not?"
