Ai+ is getting ready to launch its next set of budget 5G phones in India, the Ai+ Nova 2 5G and Ai+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G, on April 9th. The announcement came from Ai+ CEO Madhav Sheth, and the company has also teased the phones’ design and colour options ahead of the launch.
Ai+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G colours and design details
The Nova 2 Ultra 5G will be available in Black, Blue, Green, Purple, and Red, while the standard Nova 2 5G gets Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Purple shades. Both phones feature red-accented power buttons, which add a bit of contrast to the otherwise simple designs. The back stands out on the Ultra model, thanks to its customisable light ring. The Nova 2 Ultra 5G has a pill-shaped camera module, much like the iPhone 17, along with a circular ring light at the bottom. This ring isn’t just for looks — Ai+ says it can light up for calls, messages, music, and other notifications. It’s a familiar idea, similar to what we’ve seen on devices like the Nothing phones, where lighting doubles as a notification system.

The standard Nova 2 5G takes a simpler approach. It has a square-shaped camera module with the flash built inside, and overall looks closer to the earlier Ai+ Nova 5G. On the hardware side, details are still limited, but a recent Google Play Console listing gave a rough idea. The Nova 2 5G is expected to feature an HD+ display and run on a Unisoc-based chipset with a Cortex-A76 and A55 core setup, along with around 4GB RAM. That suggests it’s aimed at basic, everyday use rather than heavy gaming or demanding tasks.
Possible price range of Nove 2 series
The Nova series sits above Ai+’s entry-level Pulse lineup and builds on what the brand introduced last year with the Nova 5G. That phone focused on offering a 120Hz display, a large battery, and a 50MP camera at Rs 7,999. Ai+ has also been pushing its phones around locally processed AI features and privacy-focused software.
In India, the Nova 2 series will enter a crowded sub-Rs 12,000 budget 5G segment, where brands like Xiaomi (Redmi), POCO, and Realme already have multiple options. Most of these phones focus on balanced specs, like bigger batteries or more RAM. Ai+ seems to be taking a slightly different route by focusing on design and features like the notification light system to stand out.
For buyers, the Nova 2 5G could make sense if you’re looking for an affordable 5G phone for everyday use, especially if pricing stays around the expected range. The Ultra model adds a bit more personality with its lighting feature, which may appeal if you want something visually different. At the same time, if performance or higher RAM is a priority, it’s still worth comparing options in the same price range.
