In an aim to make the open-ear audio category more accessible, boAt has today unveiled the Airdopes ProClip, designed for Indian listening conditions at just Rs 1,599. The earbuds are meant for users who want to listen to audio while staying aware of their surroundings, ideal for daily commutes, workouts, office use, and outdoor activities.
Priced at Rs 1,599, the boAt Airdopes ProClip comes in Velvet White, Silk Grey, and Satin White colour options and is already up for grabs on boAt’s official website, Amazon and Flipkart.
Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the ProClip adopts an open-ear design that rests on the ear rather than blocking the ear canal. To address one of the biggest drawbacks of open-ear audio, i.e. sound leakage, the company has implemented Sonic Seal technology, which aims to deliver a more private listening experience in public spaces. The company claims that this technology results in ‘minimal audio leakage’.
As for the specifications and features, the Airdopes ProClip gets a 12mm driver size, which is on par with the earphones available under Rs 2,000, such as the OnePlus Nord Buds 3r featuring 12.4mm drivers. While the case packs a 500mAh battery, each earbud features a 50mAh battery. boAt claims the earbuds can deliver up to 52 hours of playback. Since these earbuds will be worn by many during workouts or outdoor runs, the Aidropes ProClip are IPX4 rated to avoid damage from moisture and sweat.
Summing up
At this price point, the Airdopes ProClip makes open-ear listening significantly more accessible to mainstream buyers in India, where awareness, comfort, and affordability matter a lot. The product directly competes in the budget open-ear category and looks to challenge existing players with its combination of comfort and practical features.
That being said, if traditional truly wireless earbuds don’t suit your ears, these open ear style earbuds from boAt are worth checking out, especially at the price they retail for. The Airdopes Clips also make sense for those who don’t wish to isolate themselves from the outside noise when listening to music, as these open-ear earphones allow sound to enter to a good extent. As for the sound quality, we’re quite uncertain since we’ve yet to try these earphones.
