At Computex 2026, Intel has introduced the Arc G-Series processors, a new family of chips specifically for handheld gaming systems. The series launches with Intel Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme processors running on Windows 11, building on the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 architecture to deliver optimised performance and power efficiency for portable play.

What’s new
The Arc G-Series processors are purpose-built for handheld gaming, developed with hardware partners and software developers to deliver broad compatibility. They feature up to Intel Arc B390 graphics built on Intel’s Xe3 architecture, enabling real-time ray tracing for high-fidelity visuals and XeSS 3 for higher performance and smoother gameplay.
XeSS 3 includes three key technologies: XeSS Super Resolution for AI-based upscaling, XeSS Multi-Frame Generation for interpolated frames, and Xe Low Latency for faster response to inputs. The processors also offer Day-0 driver support so new releases perform well from launch.

Other specifications include 2 Performance-Cores, 8 Efficiency-Cores and 4 Low Power Efficiency-Cores manufactured on Intel’s 18A process node. The chips support integrated Wi-Fi 7 R2, dual Bluetooth 6 and Thunderbolt 4 with Thunderbolt Share for up to 40 Gbps bandwidth. Windows 11 PCs also get Xbox Mode, a controller-optimised full-screen experience that unifies your game library.
Handheld systems powered by Arc G-Series processors will launch from OEM partners starting June 2026, with broader availability throughout the year. Leading partners include Acer with the Predator Atlas 8, MSI with the Claw 8 EX AI+ and OneXPlayer.
MSI has announced a new Claw 8 EX AI+ and Acer similarly has announced the Predator Atlas 8, both powered by the new Intel Arc-G series chipsets. It remains to be seen if these handhelds will officially launch in India.
Where does it fit in?
The Arc G-Series is Intel’s first processor family specifically designed for handheld gaming, unlike previous chips that were adapted from laptop or desktop designs. Compared to existing handhelds using AMD Ryzen Z series chips, the Arc G3’s purpose-built core counts and power management should deliver better battery life without sacrificing performance.
If you own a handheld from 2024 or earlier with an older Intel or AMD chip, the Arc G3 should offer a substantial upgrade in efficiency and graphics features like XeSS 3 and ray tracing. If you’re buying your first handheld, the Arc G3 models launching from June 2026 should be worth considering over older alternatives.
Xbox Mode is also a clear advantage for Windows gamers who want a console-like experience, while Thunderbolt Share lets you control two PCs with one keyboard and mouse. However, handheld gaming is still a very niche market, and availability will depend on OEM partners. Indian buyers should wait for local launch announcements before considering a purchase.
