Infinix GT 50 Pro vs GT 30 Pro: how much better is the new gaming phone?

The Infinix GT 50 Pro takes the GT series in a more ambitious direction, pairing gaming-focused hardware with an entire ecosystem of accessories for handheld and big-screen play. It arrives at a time when rising component costs are making consumer tech increasingly expensive, making every upgrade count.

Even so, the brand needs to be commended for bringing in unique features, like the first built-in liquid cooling system on a smartphone, an interesting addition that could make a tangible difference during long gaming sessions. Here’s how it compares with its predecessor, the Infinix GT 30 Pro (review), and whether the upgrades justify the higher price.

Infinix GT 50 Pro vs GT 30 Pro: price in India

The Infinix GT 50 Pro is priced at Rs 69,999 for its 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, with the gaming accessories bundled in. In comparison, the Infinix GT 30 Pro launched at Rs 24,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while its 12GB RAM option cost Rs 26,999.

It is important to note that the GT 50 Pro’s price includes three gaming accessories. The GT NX Controller, the GT NX Station, and the GT MagCharge combined value comes to Rs 24,999. The GT 50 Pro’s estimated standalone value is around Rs 45,000, once you subtract the bundle cost. It goes without saying that this is an official standalone price announced by Infinix.

The new price estimate still makes the GT 50 Pro a significant step up in price, even after accounting for the accessories. That can be attributed to the increased RAM and storage costs, which have quadrupled in price compared to 2025.

Infinix GT 50 Pro vs GT 30 Pro: design and durability

The Infinix GT 50 Pro retains the series’ bold gaming-focused design but makes its cooling hardware a key part of the look. Its rear panel features visible channels for the HydroFlow liquid cooling system, alongside RGB lighting and a supercar-inspired design. The GT 30 Pro, meanwhile, has a Cyber Mecha design with customisable rear lighting. Both phones retain the distinctive gaming aesthetic that sets the GT series apart from regular smartphones.

The GT 50 Pro is slightly thicker and heavier than its predecessor, measuring 8.15mm and weighing 198g. The GT 30 Pro measures 7.99mm thick and weighs 188g, making it a little easier to handle. Both phones feature Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the display, along with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. This means the newer model’s liquid cooling does not come at the cost of a higher dust and water resistance rating, although neither phone is designed for submersion in water.

Infinix GT 50 Pro vs GT 30 Pro: display, battery, and cameras

The Infinix GT 50 Pro retains the same 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, 4,500 nits brightness as the GT 30 Pro, with a 144Hz refresh rate. The newer model does improve touch response, with a touch sampling rate of up to 330Hz, compared with 240Hz on the GT 30 Pro. This could help deliver quicker responses to player inputs in supported games, although the display itself is not a major upgrade.

The battery is a more substantial upgrade on the GT 50 Pro. It packs a 6,500mAh battery, up from the GT 30 Pro’s 5,500mAh cell, an increase of around 18 per cent. This extra capacity should help during longer gaming sessions, particularly when playing demanding titles. Both phones support 45W wired and 30W wireless charging, however, so charging speeds remain unchanged despite the larger battery in the newer model.

The cameras, meanwhile, have been slightly downgraded to manage costs. The GT 50 Pro has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 13MP selfie camera. The GT 30 Pro uses a higher-resolution 108MP primary camera, alongside the same 8MP ultrawide and 13MP front cameras. The lower megapixel count does not automatically mean poorer photos, and OIS can help reduce blur, but we’ll discuss the camera output in more detail in the full review.

Infinix GT 50 Pro vs GT 30 Pro: performance and software

The Infinix GT 50 Pro upgrades to the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset, replacing the Dimensity 8350 Ultimate on the GT 30 Pro. Both use LPDDR5X RAM, but the newer model comes with UFS 4.1 storage instead of UFS 4.0. These changes should help the GT 50 Pro handle demanding games and load apps a little more quickly.

Cooling technology is undoubtedly the core differentiator here. The GT 30 Pro uses a vapour chamber, while the GT 50 Pro introduces HydroFlow liquid cooling with a large 7,700mm² vapour chamber. This should help it manage heat during extended gaming sessions and maintain performance for longer. We’ll know just how well it performs in the comprehensive review.

The GT 50 Pro also launches with Android 16-based XOS 16, compared with Android 15-based XOS 15 on the GT 30 Pro. Infinix promises three Android OS updates and five years of security patches for the newer phone, up from two OS updates and three years of security support for its predecessor.

Conclusion

The Infinix GT 50 Pro brings some worthwhile upgrades over its predecessor, including a faster chipset, a larger battery, better storage speeds and longer software support. Its HydroFlow liquid cooling system is the biggest talking point, as it brings a fresh approach to managing heat during demanding gaming sessions.

Rising RAM and storage costs have also made smartphones more expensive, but it is good to see brands still exploring new hardware instead of relying on small, routine upgrades. If the GT 50 Pro delivers the sort of gaming performance it promises in real-world tests, it could be one of the best gaming phones in its price range.

The Rs 69,999 bundled price, however, is a substantial investment, especially for Infinix GT 30 Pro (review) users. The bundled controller, TV station and cooler add value for users who will use them, but not everyone needs a full gaming setup. An option to buy the GT 50 Pro without these accessories would make it more accessible. Until then, existing GT 30 Pro owners may be better off holding on to their phone.
