Lenovo has expanded its tablet portfolio in India with the launch of the Idea Tab Plus, a new mid-range Android tablet aimed squarely at students and Gen Z users. Positioned as an all-in-one device for studying, entertainment, and everyday productivity, the Idea Tab Plus offers features such as a high-resolution display, 5G connectivity, and a bundled stylus at a price point below premium tablets.
The Lenovo Idea Tab Plus is available starting at Rs 27,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage Wi-Fi variant and the 8GB + 256GB 5G model. Lenovo is also offering a 12GB + 256GB 5G variant at Rs 30,999, which the brand claims is the only tablet in this segment to offer that combination of memory, storage, and 5G support.
It is officially available now on Lenovo.
At the front, the Idea Tab Plus features a 12.1-inch 2.5K IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits peak brightness. This should make it well-suited for online classes, reading PDFs, streaming content, and casual creative work. While it isn’t an OLED panel, the brightness and resolution figures stand out in this price bracket.
The tablet sports a slim 6.29mm metal body and weighs 530 grams, making it reasonably portable for students moving between classrooms, libraries, or cafés. Lenovo has kept the design minimal, with a clean Luna Grey finish rather than flashy colours.
Powering the tablet is the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card. This setup should comfortably handle video calls, productivity apps, note-taking, and entertainment, even if it isn’t meant for heavy gaming. It also features 5G support, allowing students to stay connected outside Wi-Fi networks, which is useful for hybrid learning, cloud-based tools, and collaboration on the move.
Lenovo is also bundling the Lenovo Tab Pen with every variant, which adds clear value. Students can take handwritten notes, annotate documents, sketch, or brainstorm ideas without having to buy separate accessories. Software features such as Lenovo AI Notes, Circle to Search with Google, and Google Gemini further reinforce the tablet’s learning-first positioning.
The Idea Tab Plus packs a 10,200mAh battery, which Lenovo says is designed to last through long study and streaming sessions. It supports 45W fast charging via USB-C, making top-ups quicker between classes.
An 8MP front camera handles camera duties for online classes and video calls, and a 13MP rear camera for document scanning and quick captures. Connectivity options include 5G Sub-6GHz, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS support.
For students and Gen Z users who want a single device for notes, online classes, streaming, and light creative work without paying premium tablet prices, the Idea Tab Plus positions itself as a practical middle ground rather than a flashy flagship.
The mid-range tablet market in India has become increasingly competitive, particularly in the Rs 25,000-35,000 segment. Buyers today are choosing between productivity-focused Android tablets and entry-level premium options.
The Lenovo Idea Tab Plus competes with devices such as the Xiaomi Pad 7, the OnePlus Pad Go 2, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Samsung’s offering offers an ecosystem advantage and higher-priced AMOLED options, while Xiaomi focuses more on performance and multimedia. Lenovo, on the other hand, is clearly betting on RAM-heavy configurations, bundled accessories, and 5G to stand out. Buyers can also consider the Apple iPad 11. If you prefer iPadOS, occasional deals can deliver flagship-class performance at this price point.
