The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion launch could be around the corner. Although Motorola has yet to officially tease the device, reliable tipster Evan Blass has now shared what appear to be official marketing images and renders of the smartphone. This development comes only days after he revealed the handset’s key specifications, effectively leaving very little to the imagination. It seems the Edge 70 Fusion will share its design cues with the previously introduced Edge 70 (review) smartphone, with squarish camera deco, slim profile, curved edges, and more.
The design does not appear to be a dramatic departure from its predecessor, the Edge 60 Fusion. That said, the Edge 70 Fusion can be distinguished by its glossy camera module, which features a contrasting border that makes it stand out more prominently. The rest of the rear panel seems to carry a textured finish, lending the device a subtle visual depth. At the centre sits the familiar Motorola ‘batwing’ logo, keeping the brand identity unmistakable. Moreover, the Motorola Edge 70 could be available in four colourways. These are said to be Pantone-certified Blue Surf, Country Air, Orient Blue, Sporting Green, and Silhouette.
The handset could feature a metallic finish around the edges, with speaker and volume buttons on the right spine. The front may sport a centred punch-hole display, with razor-thin bezels and slightly curved edges, which appear to be tapered into the frame, adding a premium look to the device. Just so you know, the more expensive Motorola Signature also has similar looks.
Moving on to the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion specifications, it will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC under the hood. This is a slightly watered-down SoC from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC used on the vanilla Edge 70 smartphone. The alleged Geekbench listing of the Fusion backs this up. The handset reportedly scores 1,215 and 3,186 in the benchmark’s single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. These are marginally lower than the Edge 70’s 1,331 single-core and 4,131 multi-core Geekbench scores.
That said, the Edge 70 Fusion is expected to feature a bigger 7,000mAh battery compared to its elder sibling, backed by 68W fast charging. On paper, that combination should appeal to power users, looking for all-day (or even two-day) battery life depending on the usage, while still allowing for quick top-ups when you’re short on time.
The handset is also said to offer a 6.78-inch 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, a 50MP Lytia triple camera setup and a 32MP front-facing camera. The phone will reportedly come with IP68 and IP69 dust and water-resistance ratings, along with MIL-STD-810H durability certification and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display protection.
The handset is expected to arrive in two RAM variants, 8GB and 12GB, both paired with 256GB of internal storage. It is also likely to ship with Android 16 out of the box and is said to offer three major Android OS upgrades, which is on par with its predecessor.
That’s all we know so far! While it is all conjecture until things are official, the information is coming from a reliable tipster who has a good track record with leaks. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is likely to make its appearance in the global market first, before debuting in India. Given the current market dynamics, don’t expect the smartphone to be priced as competitively as its predecessor, which came with a starting at Rs 22,999.
If Motorola manages to position the smartphone in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment, it could emerge as a compelling option in its class. Any higher, however, and the Edge 70 Fusion will have to justify its pricing, especially against rivals such as the Realme P4 Power (review), which boasts a massive 10,001mAh battery, as well as its own higher-tier sibling, the Edge 70.
