Nothing Phone (3a) Lite goes on sale in India today: price, features, specifications, should you buy?

Highlights
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Lite sale is live on Flipkart, Vijay Sales, Croma, and retail stores.
  • The new Lite model sits between CMF Phone 2 Pro and Phone (3a) in terms of pricing.
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Lite gets an India-exclusive Blue colour.

Launched in the Indian market on November 27th for Rs 20,999, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite is available to purchase on Flipkart, Vijay Sales, Croma, and leading retail outlets starting today. This is the fourth and most affordable Nothing-branded model in India this year, joining the likes of Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro, and Phone (3). Coming with Nothing’s signature semi-transparent design, the Phone (3a) Lite also shares several specifications with other Nothing and CMF phones launched this year.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite comes in storage variants of 8+128GB and 8+256GB priced at Rs 20,999 and Rs 22,999, respectively. The device comes in three colour options, which include White, Black, and the India-exclusive Blue. As part of the launch offers, buyers can avail an instant Rs 1,000 discount using ICICI and OneCard bank cards on both the storage variants.

Just like the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, the major appeal of the Phone (3a) Lite is for its distinct rear design that embodies several not-so-common elements, such as a small red square, assyemtrical placement of the cameras, a large rectangular block that mimics a TV remote’s battery panel, and lastly, the Glyph Light at the bottom. All of these elements sit under a high-grade tempered glass and are rated IP54.

The triple rear camera lenses comprise a 50MP 1/1.57-inch main camera with EIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. While the primary sensor is one of the largest you can get for the price, the lesser-priced CMF Phone 2 Pro by Nothing featured a 50MP 2x telephoto lens instead of the 2MP macro camera. The rear camera supports recording videos in up to 4K 30FPS, while the front 16MP camera is limited to 1080p 60FPS.

Powering up the Phone (3a) Lite is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. While this chipset should suffice for daily and casual workloads, phones like the Vivo T4 and Moto Edge 60 Fusion offer a tad better performance numbers with their Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and Dimensity 7400 chipsets.

Up front, there’s a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 3,000 nits peak brightness. The screen is protected by Panda Glass. This is the same display used in the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro. Interacting with the display is aided by the Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.5, which offers several monochromatic visuals and elements on the homescreen, lockscreen and various system apps. Since Nothing OS 4 has started rolling out to many models, the (3a) Lite should receive the update soon.

Phone (3a) Lite charging
Lastly, there’s a 5,000mAh battery and 33W charging support, but you’ll need to buy the charger separately, since it’s not included in the box. Many smartphones in this segment have started offering battery capacities upwards of 6,000mAh, like the Vivo T4 with a 7,300mAh battery and the Realme 15T with a 7,000mAh battery. The phone also gets an in-display fingerprint sensor and a single bottom-firing speaker.

If you’re on the lookout for a smartphone that stands out from the crowd in terms of look and feel, a close to stock-Android software experience with a twist of minimalism, a decent primary camera, and a large AMOLED display, the Phone (3a) Lite is worth considering. On the contrary, competitors in the Rs 19,000 to Rs 23,000 price bracket may offer better battery endurance, versatile camera capabilities, such as the CMF Phone 2 Pro at Rs 18,999, and higher performance gains for running games at higher graphical settings.
