Nothing’s next A-series phones are almost here, and the latest leaks suggest the company is ready to push the lineup into a more premium space. The Phone (4a) series is set to launch in India on March 5th, and the latest leaks point to higher prices, camera upgrades, and a noticeable design change for the Pro variant.
As per tipster Debayan Roy, the Nothing Phone (4a) may start at Rs 31,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, with 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB versions also expected. That’s a clear jump from the Nothing Phone (3a), which launched at Rs 24,999 for the same base storage. The Phone (4a) Pro is tipped to start around Rs 40,000, placing it closer to upper mid-range phones rather than the value segment Nothing’s A-series initially targeted.
These tipped prices may just be true. In a detailed post on X, Nothing co-founder Carl Pei had previously said the long-standing trend of cheaper smartphone components has reversed, driven by a surge in memory prices. He noted that AI data centres are competing with smartphone makers for the same supply, pushing costs sharply higher. Pei said brands now face a simple choice of either raising prices or reducing specifications.
Apart from the price hike, one of the biggest talking points is the design. While the design of the Nothing Phone (4a) has been revealed, a leak from an X account gadget_bits claims the Phone (4a) Pro will be the first Nothing phone without a fully transparent rear panel. Instead, the cameras and Glyph lighting system are said to sit inside a transparent raised plateau, in line with Nothing’s signature aesthetic. However, these claims stand unverified as the account doesn’t have a strong past record of leaks and the new information is not attributed to any credible source. As per the user, the layout is similar to recent iPhone Pro models, with a prominent camera island that houses both the sensors and a larger Glyph Matrix. This expanded Glyph system is expected to offer more expressive lighting patterns and notifications.
Meanwhile, official teasers confirm the regular Phone (4a) will retain the transparent design. It introduces a new vertical Glyph Bar with nine individually controllable LEDs that are said to be 40 percent brighter and designed to produce a more natural glow.
The Phone (4a) is tipped to feature a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide lens, 32MP front camera, and a telephoto lens with up to 70x zoom. The Pro model could go further with a 50MP telephoto offering 3.5x optical zoom and up to 140x digital zoom, alongside a 50MP main sensor and 8MP ultrawide. Both phones are expected to support 4K video at 30fps. The standard model may limit front camera video to 1080p.
On the performance side, leaks suggest the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 will power the Phone (4a), while the Pro may use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Both chips sit in the lower mid-range tier and should bring modest gains over the previous generation. A 5,400mAh battery with 50W wired charging is expected on both models.
At around Rs 32,000, the Phone (4a) would compete directly with options like the OnePlus Nord series, Realme 16 Pro series and Redmi Note 15 Pro models. Many of these rivals offer faster charging, stronger chipsets, or more mature camera processing. If the Pro model lands near Rs 40,000, it edges into the performance-focused territory with phones that deliver sub-flagship performance, hence making Nothing’s design-led approach its biggest strength but also its biggest gamble.
If you like clean software, distinctive design, and a balanced camera setup, the Phone (4a) could still be an appealing choice. The Pro variant, with its telephoto lens and redesigned rear, may suit users who want more photography flexibility without paying flagship prices. But if performance, gaming, or bigger batteries and faster charging matter more, it may be worth comparing other options in the Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 range before deciding.
