At 91mobiles, we regularly conduct surveys to understand the macro trends shaping smartphone ownership patterns, buyer preferences, their behaviour, usage experience, and more. The latest Smartphone Buyer Insights Survey digs deeper into current and future ownership, the aspects that matter the most to people on a phone, and how people decide to buy a new handset. With over 15,000+ participants, the survey throws some interesting insights, with OnePlus standing out in a lot of aspects. Read on to find out how.
OnePlus has the sixth-largest ownership share
- As per 91mobiles’ Smartphone Buyer Insights Survey 2024, OnePlus currently ranks sixth in smartphone ownership among the survey respondents.
- It holds an ownership share of 7.5 percent, 25 percent up from last year’s survey during the same time.
OnePlus could gain the highest ownership share when people upgrade next
- While the brand currently has an ownership share of 7.5 percent, 15.2 percent of our survey participants shared that they would like to buy a OnePlus smartphone next.
- This interest in the brand’s smartphones in the survey responses shows the aspirational mindset of customers towards the OnePlus handsets. This also shows that the brand’s ownership share could increase substantially when these people buy their next smartphones.
- One of the primary reasons for OnePlus to gain the top spot could be the brand’s reliable after-sales service and easy availability of service centres across India.
OnePlus enjoys high customer loyalty
- 6 in 10 OnePlus users claimed they would purchase a smartphone from the same brand when the right time comes.
- This makes the smartphone giant the brand with the highest customer loyalty in the market, among the survey participants.
Which smartphone brands will lose their users to OnePlus?
From the final survey data, it has been observed that many smartphone users of other brands plan to shift to OnePlus. To put things into context, 12.6 percent of Samsung users, 11.5 percent of Vivo users, 13.9 percent of Realme users, 14.6 percent of Xiaomi users, 14.4 percent of OPPO users, and 6.42 percent of Motorola users are likely to purchase a OnePlus phone next.
OnePlus Nord 4 was the most sought-after mid-range smartphone
- When asked about the upcoming/recent mid-range smartphone they were most excited about, the OnePlus Nord 4 led the charts with 23.8 percent votes. The other options included Nothing Phone (3), iPhone SE 2024, and Google Pixel 8a.
- For the uninitiated, the OnePlus Nord 4 features a metal unibody design which is the first phone of its kind in many years. The handset helms the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC and comes packed with a beefy 5,500mAh battery with 100W Super VOOC Fast charging.
Bottomline
OnePlus has not only managed to capture a significant ownership share in the smartphone market within just a decade of its existence but also won over customers’ hearts. The brand enjoys high customer loyalty and has a massive potential to increase its ownership share substantially over the next few years if we go by the interest shown towards OnePlus phones in our survey. It will be interesting to see how this story unfolds going ahead, but don’t worry, we are here to inform you about the latest smartphone trends with our survey insights.
