OPPO recently unveiled the all-new smartphones in the mid-range in India — the A9 2020 and A5 2020. Both these smartphones feature a quad-camera setup on their backs. The latest smartphones in the brand’s A series are quite impressive, and the A9 2020 also manages to attract us with its value proposition so much so that it could very well be the best phone under Rs 20,000. Here’s why we think so.

A large 6.5-inch display
The OPPO A9 2020 features a large 6.5-inch HD+ display that comes with a nano-waterdrop notch which is 31.4 percent smaller than waterdrop notches, and ensures humongous 89 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ for protection against scratches and is equipped with Blue Shield filter will protect your eyes from harmful blue-light emission. The phone comes equipped with Sunlight Screen providing a vibrant display even in outdoor conditions. Cameras are one of the biggest selling points of the OPPO A9 2020. The device offers a quad-camera system with a primary 48-megapixel lens with an f/1.8 aperture, an ultra-wide 8-megapixel lens with 119 degrees field-of-view, a 2-megapixel portrait lens, and another 2-megapixel mono lens. The A9 2020 comes equipped with the Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is coupled with the Adreno 610 GPU. This is a good mid-range processor that should be great for gaming and multitasking. The phone can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
OPPO has also included its Game Boost 2.0 feature on the phone, which along with the hardware, improves frame rates while gaming. The feature also helps improve battery efficiency. As per the brand, the Snapdragon 665 chipset is up to 20 percent more efficient compared to the previous generation chipsets. Game Boost 2.0 is accompanied by Frame Boost and Touch Boost to improve the overall gaming experience.
The device also features three card slots, which means you don’t need to compromise on the dual-SIM capabilities. An oval-shaped fingerprint scanner is available at the back of the phone, though you can also use face unlock for authentication purposes.
A strong 5,000mAh battery
This is yet another highlight of OPPO’s A9 2020. The company has included a large 5,000mAh battery on the phone, which can easily last more than a day with normal usage. The large cell should be sufficient for extended gaming sessions or watching movies. OPPO states that the battery can last for more than 11 hours when watching continuous HD videos, which is really astounding. The battery also supports reverse charging, which means that users can connect other devices to the phone and charge them.
We can go on and on since the OPPO A9 2020 comes with many other useful features. An important feature to highlight though would be the device’s Dual Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos Sound effect that provide a superior surround sound experience. As far as pricing is concerned, the OPPO A9 2020 price in India is set at Rs 16,990 for the 4GB+128GB variant and RS 19,990 for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Alongside the OPPO A9 2020, the brand has also launched the OPPO A5 2020, which caters to the Rs 15K segment. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Unlike the A9 2020, this smartphone comes with a 12MP primary rear camera + 8MP ultra-wide front camera + 2MP Mono lens + 2 MP Portrait lens and is available in two stunning colours of Mirror Black and Dazzling White. The A5 2020 goes on sale on Amazon.in and offline stores starting September 21st with a starting price tag of Rs 13,990.
