OPPO Find X9s launched in India with MediaTek Dimensity 9500s SoC and 7,025mAh battery: price, specifications

Alongside its ultra-premium Find X9 Ultra, OPPO has also launched a sub-flagship smartphone called the Find X9s, which, ironically, is positioned above the flagship Find X9. This is similar to the confusion Vivo created with the launch of the X300 FE. How OPPO plans to address this positioning is a story for another day. For now, this article focuses on the OPPO Find X9s launch and what the smartphone brings to the table.

OPPO Find X9s price in India, availability

The OPPO Find X9s is priced in India identically to the Vivo X300 FE, which also happens to be its closest rival. The base 256GB storage variant of the smartphone costs Rs 79,999, while 512GB option will set you back to Rs 89,999. This makes the Find X9s more expensive than the current selling price of vanilla OPPO Find X9, which may get you better performance, cameras, and wireless charging capabilities.

However, as part of the launch offer, you can get the OPPO Find X9s for as low as Rs 72,000 with bank offers. The handset goes on sale in India from May 28th via the partnered e-commerce platforms such as Amazon.in. The phone will be available in three colour choices: Midnight Grey, Lavender Sky, and Sunset Orange. The handset seems to be a promising buy for camera enthusiasts who are also seeking flagship-level performance and long battery life.

Unlike its competition, the OPPO Find X9s is not a compact smartphone. The handset boasts dimensions of 159mm x 74mm x 7.9mm and weighs 202 grams, making it similar in size and weight to the Find X9. The phone sports a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, 1,800 nits of HBM brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It is a flat display, but not as power-efficient as the Vivo X300 FE’s LTPO panel, which can dynamically adjust the refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

That said, the OPPO smartphone is backed by a larger 7,025mAh battery than its counterpart. While it may offer longer endurance, its 80W wired SuperVOOC fast charging feels underwhelming compared to the 90W FlashCharge support on the X300 FE’s 6,500mAh battery, which also offers up to 40W wireless charging.

Performance between the two smartphones may feel identical, with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s SoC ticking at the Find X9s core that feels just as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. OPPO pairs the chipset with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, instead of the marginally faster LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The phone boots ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box, which is likely to deliver the same feature-rich software experience as its siblings. The handset is promised to receive the standard four years of major OS upgrades, but its six years of security updates trail behind those offered by its rival.

Cameras are where the OPPO Find X9s may shine, not just against the X300 FE but also other rival smartphones in the segment. The handset boasts a triple rear camera setup tuned by Hasselblad, comprising a 50MP OIS main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The Find X9s also supports lossless zoom up to 6x. Furthermore, the cameras support 4K 60fps Dolby Vision video recording across all sensors, alongside 240fps slow-motion video recording. For selfies and video calls, the handset features a 32MP front-facing camera housed within a punch-hole cutout.

Other features include IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.1, NFC, and eSIM support. The Find X9s also retains a flat-edge design, with a squircle-shaped camera module and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front.
