OPPO Reno 16 chipset details officially revealed ahead of India launch
OPPO’s new Reno 16 series is arriving in India on July 2nd. The lineup will bring two phones: the Reno 16 and Reno 16c. Here, the Reno 16c is speculated to be the Reno 16F, which launched recently in Thailand. OPPO has been teasing the upcoming Reno phones, revealing key details. It has now confirmed the chipset details for the Reno 16, which is different from the one in China.

The Reno 16 will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, the same chipset used in the Reno 15. While it may not be an upgrade, it’s worth mentioning that the Reno 15 is around six months old, so the refresh is quite new. This means that you can expect a similar performance on the Reno 16 and the Reno 15. OPPO claims that the Qualcomm AI Engine in this chipset delivers up to a 65 percent increase in AI performance, enabling it to handle ColorOS 16’s multi-model AI architecture more effectively for smooth performance.

OPPO also detailed some AI features for the Reno 16 series, which is launching with Android 16-based ColorOS 16 out of the box. The lineup will debut the AI Snap Key, which records on-screen content and stores it in an organised manner in Mind Space, an intelligent memory hub. These can be a meeting invite, an event detail, or a plan shared in a message. You can also configure the AI Snap Key for other actions.
The Reno 16 series also brings Mind Pilot, which works like an AI assistant bringing Gemini, Perplexity, and ChatGPT in one place. So, instead of switching to different LLMs, you can find all three in one place to get the best responses for your queries. Then there’s AI Bill Manager, which automatically turns receipts, screenshots, messages, and voice notes into organized records, so you can track expenses, categories, and multiple currencies with real-time exchange rates.
More features include AI Menu Translation, AI Voice Translation, AI Recording Sticker, and AI Scan. All these features are part of ColorOS 16 and will be available on the Reno 16 series.
Based on the details we know so far, the OPPO Reno 16 appears to heavily focus on AI features for everyday use, a capable chipset, and a compact design. We’re yet to know more about the Reno 16, but for now, the smartphone seems like a good choice for those looking for a compact smartphone with flagship-style cameras and premium build quality.
