OPPO Reno X smartphone with 16:10 wide aspect ratio reportedly in the works

OPPO might be working on a new smartphone with a very unique form factor. The upcoming smartphone dubbed ‘Reno X’ will feature an aspect ratio closer to 16:10, which would give it a wider form factor than most smartphones these days, which usually stick to a 16:9 aspect ratio. This might make the OPPO Reno X look more like a foldable when it’s opened. This would give users more screen room, making it more immersive to watch content and read stuff.

According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, the OPPO Reno X will launch with a 6.39-inch flat display (21xx×13xx pixels) with an aspect ratio that’s closer to 16:10. So, even though the OPPO Reno X will offer a compact display, it will still be wider due to its aspect ratio. If the phone does launch eventually, then it will look more like a book-style foldable when it’s opened, and not like the tall phones that we commonly see in the market. With a wider screen, the Reno X would be beneficial for productivity tasks like split-screen view.

An example of what the phone could look like was shared in the comments section. It was of a device measuring 143mm x 91mm, and the tipster said that it looks similar to the Reno X. Since it will be part of the Reno series, we can expect a premium and good-looking design. We’ve seen this kind of form factor mostly with foldable phones and more recently, the Huawei Pura X. So OPPO going for this design would be quite ambitious.

This Reno smartphone is said to be powered by a Dimensity 9000-series chipset, which means it will deliver flagship-grade performance. The smartphone is also said to house a battery capacity of around 7,000mAh. The OPPO Reno X is tipped to house a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. This means that OPPO isn’t compromising on the specifications of the Reno X. The tipster added that the Reno X’s specifications haven’t been finalised yet.

The OPPO Reno X is reportedly being planned to debut alongside the brand’s flagship lineup, which would be the Find X10 series. This means that we can expect the Reno X to launch later this year, if the phone does launch commercially.
