After teasing the device last week, POCO has now confirmed the India launch date of the POCO M8 Power. The upcoming M-series smartphone will succeed the POCO M7, which debuted in the country last year. It will also be the second M8-series offering in India after the vanilla POCO M8, which launched earlier this year. The POCO M8 Power will break its cover in India on August 4th at 12 pm local time. The company confirmed in a social media post on X, with the tagline ‘More Power, More Entertainment, More Binge.’

This confirms that the handset will cater to multimedia enthusiasts with impressive battery backup. The POCO M8 Power is confirmed to be available across India via Flipkart.

POCO M8 Power specifications

The POCO M8 Power’s official render confirms the phone will be available in an orange colourway, with flat edges and a large rear camera module. The module houses two prominent circular rings, one appearing to accommodate the camera sensor, while the other seems to integrate the LED flash. There is also ’50MP’ text etched on the module, which could be the phone’s primary sensor.

POCO claims that the smartphone, with its 8,000mAh battery, will last up to three days between charges. Furthermore, its AMOLED display will offer an immersive, vibrant and cinematic experience. The display size and other details of the smartphone currently remain under wraps.

However, rumours suggest that the POCO M8 Power could be a rebranded Redmi Note 17, which is also teased to launch in India soon. That said, the Redmi Note 17 has been launched in China, where it offers mid-range specifications such as a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of onboard storage, 50MP dual rear cameras, and a 20MP front-facing camera.

The Redmi Note 17 also houses an 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging. It remains to be seen if the POCO M8 Power will debut in India with identical hardware. Until then, take the rumours with a grain of salt.

Given the current smartphone market, where rising component costs have pushed prices higher across the board, don’t expect the POCO M8 Power to come cheap. If POCO manages to price it competitively, the handset could be worth buying if display and battery life are your priority.
