POCO has now unveiled its flagship F8 series globally, and the spotlight is shifting to its more accessible X and M lineups. From the looks of it, the M series is gearing up to break cover first, ahead of the more affordable mid-range X series handset. A POCO smartphone, with model number 2510EPC8BG, has popped up on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is essential for a device before breaking covers. The same model number was then spotted on the IMEI database, with the POCO M8 Pro moniker, as reported by TheTechOutlook.
The handset will be the successor to the POCO M7 Pro (review), which was launched in India in December last year at a starting price of Rs 13,999. Whether the all-new POCO M8 Pro will entice customers with the same competitive pricing, given the increase in component costs, remains to be seen. For now, we can confirm that the smartphone will get a bump in battery capacity and fast charging speeds.
The FCC certification reveals a 6,330mAh rated battery on the POCO M8 Pro, which could translate to an advertised typical capacity of around 6,500mAh. Either way, the battery is set to be over 1,000mAh larger than its predecessor, which already performed well in our testing. The extra capacity is always welcome. Hopefully, POCO manages to maintain the same level of optimisation on the M8 Pro.
Besides the battery, POCO also appears to be improving the overall user experience with faster charging. The listing shows a charging adapter with the model number MDY-19-EX, which corresponds to a 100W charger. This indicates that the M8 Pro will support 100W fast charging, a substantial leap from last year’s 45W, promising noticeably quicker top-ups.
Furthermore, the M8 Pro will come in three RAM and storage configurations: 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB. The handset will support 5G, along with Wi-Fi 6E dual-band, Bluetooth, and NFC. All that is promising, but it is surprising to see the upcoming POCO smartphone with a generation-old HyperOS 2 atop Android 15 in the listing. With HyperOS 3 already available, it’s a bit of a letdown that POCO hasn’t opted for the latest software out of the box.
That’s all we can share about the POCO M8 Pro for now. The launch date remains under wraps, but given its steady trail of certification sightings, currently at the FCC and IMEI databases, and previously at TDRA in the UAE and IMDA in Singapore, its debut appears to be just around the corner. It certainly looks like a device worth waiting for, but if you need a new phone right away, the iQOO Z10x (review) and CMF Phone 2 Pro (review) are strong alternatives. They recently won our IGA 2025 awards in the under-Rs 15,000 and under-Rs 20,000 categories, respectively.
