Realme 15x launches in India with a 7,000mAh battery, 50MP cameras, and a 144Hz display

Highlights
  • Realme 15x is the fourth phone in the lineup.
  • The smartphone features a 50MP front camera with AI features.
  • It also comes with IP69 protection for dust and water resistance.

Realme 15x has just launched in India as the latest addition to the brand’s number series. Positioned as a budget-friendly 5G device, the Realme 15x aims to combine massive battery capacity, smooth performance, and AI cameras, while extending Realme’s strategy of offering high-value smartphones for the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. It follows the Realme 15T, Realme 15, and Realme 15 Pro, further strengthening the brand’s number-series portfolio.

A key highlight of the Realme 15x is its 7000mAh battery, one of the largest in its category, joining the Realme P4 and OPPO K13. The device supports 60W SUPERVOOC charging, but an 80W charger is included in the box. This could be since Realme doesn’t manufacture 60W chargers. Realme claims that one full charge will give you two days of battery life. This makes it suitable for heavy users and gamers who want uninterrupted usage throughout the day. The phone also supports 6.5W reverse charging so that you can power up smaller devices like TWS.

Under the hood, the Realme 15x is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which seems surprising as the chipset can be found even in phones under Rs 10,000. This could underwhelm the Realme 15x’s performance against its peers like the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate and the OPPO K13 with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4.

Its 6.8-inch ‘Sunlight Display’ with HD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,200 nits ensures a responsive and immersive experience even under direct sunlight. With a 144Hz refresh rate, the smartphone should offer a smooth scrolling experience for regular usage and gaming as well.

The smartphone features a 50MP Sony IMX852 camera at the back and a 50MP AI front camera. It supports cinematic video, dual-view recording, slow motion, time-lapse, and even underwater photography, making it appealing to content creators and social media enthusiasts. You also get AI features like AI Edit Genie, AI Landscape, and AI Eraser. The setup seems lacking, though, as most phones in this segment offer at least two rear cameras with an ultra-wide sensor. The primary camera may capture impressive photos, but the lack of an additional sensor may limit flexibility.

In terms of storage, the Realme 15x offers up to 8GB RAM with 256GB internal memory and supports up to 10GB Dynamic RAM expansion. It supports 5G + 5G dual-mode connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and runs on realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15 out of the box. Realme hasn’t revealed how many updates the phone will get.

Despite housing a large battery, the device maintains a slim 8.28mm profile and weighs just 212g. It also comes with IP69 protection for water and dust resistance, and features a new ‘Crystal Wave’ design with Pulse Light, available in Aqua Blue, Marine Blue, and Maroon Red. Pulse Light is located on the back with nine colour options and five glowing modes for notifications and other features. The phone has a 400 percent volume mode, suggesting loud speakers, and this very interesting feature where the speaker vibrates to expel accumulated water.

The Realme 15x will be available in India starting October 1st, 2025, across Flipkart, realme.com, and mainline stores. Prices start at Rs 16,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, Rs 17,999 for the 8GB + 128GB version, and Rs 19,999 for the top-end 8GB + 256GB model, with launch offers reducing these prices further. Customers can also benefit from bank discounts, UPI offers, or exchange bonuses with six months of no-cost EMI.

For Indian users looking for a budget-friendly 5G device with large battery life, a smooth display, and an engaging design, the Realme 15x offers a compelling package. However, it might fall short in front of rivals that offer faster chipsets and a versatile camera setup. We should get a better idea of whether the Realme 15x offers enough to make it a compelling buy under Rs 20,000 or if it leaves us wanting more when we get the device for review.
