Realme is ringing in the new year with the launch of two new smartphones in India from its popular number series. The Realme 16 Pro 5G and the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G are set to debut in India on January 6th. Realme has been teasing both phones, revealing key details about them ahead of the event. Now, a new leak has hinted at what buyers might have to pay for the Realme 16 Pro+ model.
The alleged box price of the Realme 16 Pro+ has been leaked online by tipster Paras Guglani. According to the leaked image, the Pro+ model may carry a maximum retail price of Rs 43,999. Do note that this is the box price, which usually differs from the online price when the phone officially launches in India. Also, there would be launch offers, bank discounts, and festive deals that could bring the effective price down. Having said that, the official Realme 16 Pro+ price would still fall around the box price.

Realme’s number series has been priced under Rs 40,000 in India, and at the lower end of the price segment. While there was no Realme 15 Pro+ model, the Realme 14 Pro+ was also launched at Rs 29,999, which makes the rumoured price of the 16 Pro+ a steep climb in just two generations.
This is not official yet, and Realme is expected to announce launch offers, bank discounts, and festive deals that could bring the effective price down. Even then, it is a big jump for the series. Realme skipped a 15 Pro+ model entirely, but the Realme 14 Pro+ launched at Rs 29,999, which makes the rumoured price of the 16 Pro+ a steep climb in just two generations. It would also put the 16 Pro+ in the same category as the Realme GT 7 series, which is the brand’s more premium offering.
We’ve already seen price hikes in the new flagship phones, as well as in some mid-range models. Therefore, the decision may not be entirely surprising, given the current situation of OEMs hiking prices due to rising component costs. However, a justifying reason would depend on what the phone has to offer.
So far, the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G is confirmed to come with a 200MP primary camera, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope camera, with possibly 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. It will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset, and early Geekbench listings point towards a customised version of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. This is the same chipset powering the Realme 15 Pro. The phone will run Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 and will get three years of Android updates along with four years of security patches. Realme is also adding AI features, including AI Edit Genie 2.0, to improve the overall camera and editing experience.
In terms of design, the Realme 16 Pro+ is going through a major design shift with a new camera design replacing the circular module. It almost looks like an inverted camera deco of the OnePlus 13s. The smartphone will be available in Master Gold, Camellia Pink, and Master Grey.
For Indian buyers, the big question is whether this phone is worth waiting for. If the real-world price settles closer to Rs 40,000 after offers, the Realme 16 Pro+ could make sense for users who want a high-resolution camera setup and premium design without paying flagship prices. However, if it sticks close to the leaked Rs 43,999 mark, it will be competing directly with established premium mid-range phones, which already offer strong performance. Realme has yet to reveal all the details of the 16 Pro+, so we should reserve some judgment before that happens.
