Samsung announces ‘Certified Re-Newed’ programme to officially sell refurbished smartphones in India

In an attempt to let buyers enjoy the experience of using a premium Samsung smartphone, the company has officially unveiled the ‘Certified Re-Newed’ programme. As the name suggests, under this programme, Samsung will be offering refurbished flagship and midrange devices with genuine parts and components at reduced prices. These devices will be sold with a one-year warranty and will receive the same software updates as their brand-new counterparts.

What separates Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed from other refurbishers and third-party sellers?

Already operational in multiple countries, including the US and South Korea, the programme is Samsung’s official pathway for selling refurbished smartphones. Unlike third-party refurbished sellers, Samsung manages the entire restoration process in-house to ensure the devices meet original manufacturer standards. The biggest highlight of the scheme is that every phone is backed by a one-year warranty from Samsung, just like how it is with a brand-new device, which ensures worry-free usage if any fault occurs down the line.

As part of the programme, all devices are restored using original Samsung parts and undergo rigorous testing. Every phone is factory reset to ensure complete data removal from the previous owner, and is loaded with the latest software to ensure up-to-date security. Lastly, all the original accessories are provided to the buyers along with the refurbished phone in a new box.
