Samsung has launched the Galaxy A08 in India, bringing a larger battery and updated processing hardware to its affordable 4G lineup. The camera hardware and display specifications remain largely unchanged, but there are battery and performance upgrades to justify the price difference over the predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A07. Here are the details.
Price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy A08 4G costs Rs 18,499 for its sole 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration, putting it Rs 5,000 above the current price of the Galaxy A07 with the same memory and storage. The Samsung Galaxy A08 is available through Samsung’s online store, its exclusive stores, authorised retail partners and other online platforms. It comes in Dark Blue, Green and Silver.
At Rs 18,499, the A08 is an expensive upgrade over the Galaxy A07, which currently costs Rs 13,499 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. Buyers looking for a basic phone for calls, messaging and video streaming may find the A07 better value, especially since both models have similar displays and cameras.
Specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy A08 features a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on MediaTek’s Helio G99+ chipset, paired with 4GB LPDDR5 RAM and 64GB UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD card slot supports expansion up to 2TB. The phone runs One UI 8 and is promised six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
The biggest hardware change over the Galaxy A07 is the battery. The A08 packs a 6,000mAh unit, up from the A07’s 5,000mAh battery, while retaining 25W wired charging. Samsung also claims substantial CPU and GPU performance gains over the older Galaxy A06, which launched in 2024.
The rear camera setup remains the same as the Galaxy A07 and A06, with a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth camera. An 8MP camera handles selfies. The phone also gets an IP64 rating, an improvement over the A07’s IP54 rating, along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The A08’s larger battery and improved dust and splash resistance are useful upgrades, but the Rs 5,000 price gap is harder to justify when the display and cameras haven’t changed much. Buyers should also note that the A08 supports 4G, not 5G. Those who need longer battery life and intend to keep their phone for years may prefer the newer model, but the A07 remains the more affordable option for basic everyday use.
