Following the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung appears to have shifted its focus to its next major smartphone release of the year, foldables. While the company hasn’t confirmed any details yet, the upcoming devices are widely expected to debut as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Both smartphones have already started surfacing in leaks, and in a recent development, a Samsung device carrying the model number SM-F7760 has been spotted on China’s 3C certification platform. The listing does not explicitly reveal the device name, but the model number hints at its identity. For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (review) carried the model number SM-F766, suggesting that the newly spotted SM-F7760 could belong to the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8.

The 3C database also classifies the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 as ‘5G digital mobile telephone set’ and could possibly support the same charging speeds as its predecessor. The EP-TA800 model number mentioned on the listing belongs to a Samsung’s 25W wall charger. That’s all the listing reveals. However, in other news, it is reported that the smartphone could debut with the same battery capacity as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.
A Dutch website, Galaxy Club, reports that the handset will feature two batteries – EB-BF776 and EB-BF777, with a rated capacity of 1,150 mAh and 3,024 mAh, respectively. This suggests a total capacity of 4,174mAh, which could be marketed as a 4,300mAh battery. While it didn’t provide a solid backup on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, it was still sufficient to comfortably last a full day under moderate to heavy usage, as observed in our review.
A larger battery would certainly have been welcome, but it will be interesting to see how effectively Samsung optimises the setup on the Flip 8, especially as rival flip phones continue to push higher capacities with silicon-carbon tech.
Furthermore, it is reported that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8’s cameras could also be unchanged from its predecessor. The handset will continue to boast a dual-rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is rumoured to be a 10MP sensor for selfies and video calling. If true, the Flip 8 camera setup will be the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7, so don’t expect a day and night difference in photography. The setup should be justifiable for foldable, but camera enthusiasts will be left wanting more.
Like with every generation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 could also receive a performance boost, thanks to the latest flagship chipset. It could be powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or the Exynos 2600 SoC under the hood. That said, these are mere speculations, and we recommend taking them with a grain of salt.
Since the smartphone isn’t expected to launch until July, those looking to buy a flip phone right now may be better off considering currently available options, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Motorola Razr 60 (review), instead of waiting.
