[Exclusive]: Vivo iQOO gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 855 SoC coming to India by June

Vivo’s new iQOO sub-brand is coming to India as early as in May. 91mobiles has learnt from a Vivo executive (who wishes to remain anonymous) that iQOO will be entering the Indian market in late May or early June with its eponymous smartphone that was launched in China earlier this month. The brand will launch another handset later this year in the Indian market.

Both the iQOO handsets in India will be positioned as gaming smartphones and will compete against OnePlus. The brand is aiming to price these smartphones between Rs 30,000 and Rs 60,000. Moreover, a total of four variants of the two iQOO phones will be launched in India, the Vivo executive says.

Vivo iQOO specifications

For those unaware, the first iQOO handset is a gaming smartphone that features a 6.41-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution) AMOLED display with ‘Halo’ notch and screen-to-body ratio of 91.7 percent. At its core lies Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC that is forged using the 7nm process and accompanied by Adreno 640 GPU and Super Liquid Cooling tech. There are also features such as AI Turbo, Center Turbo, Net Turbo, Cooling Turbo, and Game Turbo, packed under one service called Multi-Turbo.

The phonemaker ships the handset in its home market with four configurations:  6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB. While the first two variants come in Electro-Optic Blue and Lava Orange colours, the rests are available in Electro-Optic hue. For photography, Vivo iQOO’s triple rear cameras rock 3-megapixel primary + 12-megapixel wide-angle + 2-megapixel on the rear and 12-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. Other features include a 4,000mAh battery with up to 44W fast charging tech, Android 9 Pie OS, and connectivity options such as USB Type-C, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ GLONASS.
