Vivo S2 spotted on Geekbench ahead of India launch

Highlights
  • The Vivo S2 has appeared on Geekbench with Android 16, 8GB RAM and the MediaTek MT6878 chipset.
  • Vivo has teased the S2’s design through an Amazon microsite.
  • The phone is tipped to launch in India on August 6th.

Ahead of its expected launch in August, the Vivo S2 has appeared on Geekbench, offering an early look at its performance. The benchmark listing points to a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 series chipset, in line with our earlier report that the smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360.

Vivo has so far been conservative in revealing the details, with the microsite on Amazon giving just a peak at the phone’s design. The images closely match earlier leaks, with the pill-shaped camera module reminiscent of the Vivo X300 FE.

Benchmark and performance details

The Geekbench listing, for a Vivo device carrying the model number V2576, shows 998 points in the single-core test and 2,825 points in the multi-core test. It also reveals Android 16, 8GB RAM, and a MediaTek MT6878 chipset with four performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. The chipset model and CPU configuration are consistent with the Dimensity 7300 series, corroborating our earlier report that the Vivo S2 will use the Dimensity 7360.

The same processor powers the Vivo V70 FE and Vivo V60e. Our review of the Vivo V70 FE revealed the Dimensity 7360 to deliver a smooth experience for everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging and social media, but it’s not for flagship-level gaming or sustained heavy workloads.

Launch and availability

Vivo has confirmed that the S2 is “coming soon”, but has not announced an official launch date. Tipster Abhishek Yadav previously claimed the smartphone will launch in India on August 6th. Vivo has already teased a “flagship-level design” and camera module for the S2. The phone is expected to feature a 3D curved display with curved front and rear panels, a 50MP Sony rear camera, and support for 4K video recording on both the front and rear cameras. Previous leaks also suggest 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB storage variants, along with Regal Bronze, Sapphire Blue and Silk White colour options.

The S2 will mark the return of Vivo’s S-series in India after the Vivo S1 lineup debuted in 2019. However, unlike the original S1, which started at Rs 17,999, the new model appears to be targeting the upper mid-range segment, with design expected to be one of its bigger propositions.

Internal retail listings shared by a tipster reportedly show demo units priced at Rs 38,000 and Rs 42,000, while the 8GB + 128GB variant is internally listed at Rs 43,000. These are said to be internal reference prices rather than the final retail price, so the official pricing could differ at launch. If the reported pricing is close to the final retail price, the Vivo S2 is expected to compete with the OnePlus Nord 6, Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Vivo’s own V70 FE. While several rivals may offer stronger performance at similar prices, the Vivo S2 appears to be targeting buyers who value premium design, curved displays and camera features over gaming-focused hardware.

In case you’re looking to shop in the sub-Rs 45,000 segment, Vivo is likely to announce the launch date soon and waiting should make sense to check out the launch offers.
