Vivo’s upcoming S2 series could arrive with an unexpected twist. While the company has already started teasing the Vivo S2 5G for India, a new leak suggests the brand had earlier decided to launch the traditional Pro variant but is now planning to introduce a Fan Edition (FE) model later in the lineup.
Vivo S2 FE India launch tipped
According to tipster PassionateGeekz.com (@passionategkeez), Vivo has reportedly shelved plans for a Vivo S2 Pro. Instead, the company is said to be working on a Vivo S2 FE, although details about the device remain under wraps. Vivo has not officially confirmed the expanded lineup or a launch timeline. The move also mirrors a wider industry trend, where brands use the “FE” branding to offer flagship-inspired features at a relatively lower price instead of expanding with Pro models. Vivo already offers FE models for its flagship lineup, and it could be adopting the same strategy for the S-series as well.
The S2 series marks Vivo’s return to the S branding in India after nearly six years, with the Vivo S1 having launched back in 2019, targeting budget-conscious buyers with a price tag under Rs 20,000. The Vivo S2 is confirmed to launch in India soon, with teasers confirming a focus on its design. It’s expected to launch in Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze, and Silk White colourways.
Leaks suggest the handset could be priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000. It’s expected to launch in two variants: 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.
In terms of specifications, the phone is tipped to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset. It is also expected to pack a 7,050mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge support, IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, reverse wired charging, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
Camera leaks remain inconsistent, with reports suggesting either a 50MP + 2MP rear setup or a 50MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. While the specs look promising, the success of the S2 FE will ultimately hinge on its final pricing and overall performance.
If the leaked pricing holds, the Vivo S2 will compete in the premium mid-range segment. But those who want a more affordable option may want to wait for the official launch, especially if the rumoured Vivo S2 FE offers a more aggressive price-to-performance proposition.
