  • The S50 Pro Mini is also confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

Vivo is preparing to introduce its new S50 series next week, which includes the Vivo S50 Pro Mini and Vivo S50 will launch in China. Pre-reservations for both models are already live on Vivo’s official online store, and the brand has shared several early details about the design, colours, and key specifications. The launch is scheduled for December 15th in China. Why is this relevant for the Indian audience? The Vivo S50 Pro Mini is highly likely to launch outside China as the Vivo X300 FE. Since the Vivo X200 FE was the global version of the S30 Pro Mini, the same strategy is expected to be followed this time.

Vivo has revealed that the S50 Pro Mini will arrive in three shades: Confession, Inspiration Purple, and Space Gray, while the standard S50 will be offered in four finishes, including Serene Blue. This time, Vivo has opted for a different design for the S50 Pro Mini, ditching the vertical camera setup for a horizontal deco. The horizontal camera strip stretches across the back of the S50 series with three sensors and the LED flash. The regular S50 features a square camera module.

The Vivo S50 is expected to ship in four RAM and storage variants, ranging from 12GB to 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 512GB of storage. The S50 Pro Mini is said to come in three configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Vivo has also confirmed several specifications for the S50 Pro Mini ahead of the launch. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and will feature a 6.31-inch flat display. This chipset is new and based on the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with scores close to it. OnePlus 15R is also confirmed to feature this chipset, with more of its hardware finetuned for performance.

The company claims the phone has achieved an impressive score of over three million points on AnTuTu. It will use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, and will ship with up to 512GB of internal storage. The Vivo S50 Pro Mini is expected to offer flagship-level performance with this combination.

The S50 Pro Mini will also house a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 40W wireless fast charging. With this battery capacity, users can expect a day’s usage with no sweat. Both the S50 Pro Mini and the S50 are expected to run Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box. More confirmed details include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint 2.0, and IP68 + IP69 dust and water resistance.

On the camera front, Vivo has teased that the standard S50 will feature a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor. It’s a triple-camera setup on the S50 Pro Mini, with a 50MP front camera as well.

Early rumours suggest the S50 might also include a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a 6.59-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, and a 50-megapixel selfie camera. This suggests that the S50 will be the standard version in the lineup, but with a bigger display.

With the launch now just days away, more details about the Vivo S50 series are expected to emerge soon, setting the stage for what could be one of the company’s most feature-packed mid-range releases of the year. As for the India launch, there’s no official news yet, but rumours do suggest the Vivo X300 FE will launch here soon.

If so, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini, aka X300 FE, will definitely be worth the wait, not just for its compact design, but its flagship-level specs too. The smartphone will also serve as a flagship alternative, especially to the Vivo X300 series, which starts at Rs 75,999 in India. With all the new premium phones launching at increased prices, it’s interesting to see where the Vivo X300 FE is placed when it arrives in India.
