Vivo V30e vs Samsung Galaxy M55 performance comparison: which is the faster smartphone?

Vivo introduced a new entry to its V30 series lineup, the V30e, last week. The smartphone has a starting price of Rs 27,999, which is priced close to the Samsung Galaxy M55, which has a starting price of Rs 24,999. Let’s do a performance comparison between the Vivo V30e and the Samsung Galaxy M55 to find out which is the better performer between the two.

Geekbench

The Geekbench benchmark test evaluates the CPU performance of a smartphone. In our test, the Vivo V30e scored 921 in the single-core test and 2,771 in the multi-core test, while the Galaxy M55 scored 1,020 in the single-core test and 2,529 in the multi-core test.

The results suggest the Galaxy M55 should offer better single-core performance, which includes tasks like gaming and web browsing, whereas the V30e is likely to offer better multi-core performance, used in tasks such as multitasking, video editing, video recording and such.

AnTuTu

The AnTuTu benchmark evaluates the comprehensive performance output of a smartphone across metrics like its CPU performance, GPU performance, user experience (UX) and memory (RAM+ROM). The Vivo V30e scored 5,69,641 on the test, while the Galaxy M55 registered a score of 5,84,312 in comparison. 

While the Vivo V30e offers marginally better CPU performance, the Galaxy M55 scores almost double when it comes to GPU performance. Thus, the Galaxy M55 wins this test.

Throttling test

Next up, we ran the benchmark test on the Burnout benchmark app to gauge the performance throttling of both phones under stress. The Vivo V30 showcased a performance output of 81.6 percent, while the Galaxy M55 registered a performance output of 67.3 percent under throttling. The Vivo V30e wins the round thanks to better performance output under stress.

Gaming test

The last test on our list is the gaming test. We played graphically demanding games such as COD: Mobile and BGMI on both phones to compare their real-world performance. The gaming experience was comparatively better on the Galaxy M55, and it can support higher gameplay resolution in games like COD: Mobile and BGMI.

The Galaxy M55 supports up to ‘Very High’ resolution in COD: Mobile and HDR resolution in BGMI, while the Vivo V30e only offers up to ‘High’ resolution in COD: Mobile and ‘HD’ in BGMI. When it comes to thermal management, however, the Vivo V30e does it slightly better, as it offers an average temperature increase of 8.1 degrees C over 8.75 degrees C on the Galaxy M55.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy M55

Verdict

The Galaxy M55 achieves a close victory against the Vivo V30e in our performance test. It offers comparatively better gaming performance, thanks to its more potent GPU. The Vivo V30e, in comparison, delivers better performance output under stress and marginally better thermal performance. 

All in all, if your priorities lean towards performance, the Galaxy M55 is the better choice, as it comes with a more powerful chipset and a higher RAM variant. The Vivo V30e, on the other hand, offers a higher-capacity battery at 5,500mAh, which can sway buyers who prioritise battery backup.
