Vivo X300 Ultra camera capabilities and 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Kit teased ahead of offical launch
Vivo showcased the X300 Ultra at MWC 2026, confirming a global launch for the device. The phone was on display with the new Zeiss 400mm Extender Kit attached, though visitors could only see the setup and not use it. The white colourway of the entire kit stood out at the show, and the dedicated case with a mounting grip for the telephoto lens made the whole package look purpose-built for professional photography.
The bigger story around the X300 Ultra right now is its Zeiss teleconverter lineup, details of which were shared by a Vivo product manager, Han Boxiao in a Weibo post.

The new Zeiss Telephoto Kit
The first accessory is the “Big Gun 400” (translated from Chinese), a 400mm teleconverter that claims to deliver a pure optical 200MP output at 17.4x zoom and can push all the way to 1600mm. It maintains CIPA 4.5 image stabilisation even with the converter attached.
For those unaware, CIPA is the industry standard for measuring how well a camera compensates for handshake, so a CIPA 4.5 rating means the system can correct roughly 4.5 stops of movement, keeping shots sharp even at extreme focal lengths. The 400mm focal length is what you would typically find on professional cameras used for sports and wildlife photography, and this would be double what the X200 Ultra could achieve with its own telephoto converter.

The sample shot below, taken at 1600mm equivalent, shows an eagle perched on a branch with a level of feather detail and background separation that is hard to associate with a smartphone.
For context, the shot below at 35mm shows how the same phone handles a wide, landscape-style frame and is, in fact, the very same location where the eagle was captured. Zoom in on the tree in the middle of the image, and you’ll see the bird sitting on the branch.
The second accessory is the “Lipstick 200” (Chinese translation), a second-generation 200mm teleconverter that is claimed to be 27 percent lighter than its predecessor at just 153 grams. Despite the size and weight reduction, the optics have been improved, with the lens element count going from 13 to 15, and it achieves a CIPA 6.5 stabilisation rating. As per the post, it supports 14 shooting modes, including portrait, slow motion, Live Photo, dual-view video recording, and mid-video shooting.
Together, the full Zeiss lens lineup spans 14mm, 35mm, 85mm, 200mm, and 400mm, covering every major focal length used in professional photography. The post claims all five lenses share the same standards: large sensors, Zeiss optics, and image stabilisation across every focal length.
What we know about the phone
The X300 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.82-inch 2K OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging. On the camera front, reports point to a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. None of these have been officially confirmed yet, but the MWC showing does validate the global launch and the telephoto kit.
The X300 Ultra will not be the only ultra-premium camera flagship in the market when it arrives. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is already setting a high bar with its Leica-tuned camera system, and the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is also tipped to launch around the same time with an even more ambitious quad-camera setup.
Leaks also suggest the Find X9 Ultra will pack a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, a 200MP periscope telephoto, and a second 50MP periscope lens with 10x optical zoom, along with its own teleconverter accessory. That is a lot of firepower, and it puts the X300 Ultra in a position where it needs to stand out not just in zoom range but in overall camera versatility as well.
Vivo has launched both the X300 and X300 Pro in India already, but there is no official confirmation for the X300 Ultra yet. Rumours suggest it could make its way to the country, though it is expected to carry a price tag somewhere between Rs 1,60,000 and Rs 1,70,000, putting it firmly in ultra-premium territory. Essentially, it’s a device tailor-made for camera enthusiasts, and, like most enthusiast-first products, it may have a very premium price.
If you are in the market for a premium camera phone right now, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a good option and readily available. The Vivo X300 Ultra looks like a more compelling option on paper at least if it launches in India. Existing X200 Pro owners may not find the upgrade dramatic enough unless the 400mm teleconverter is something they will actively use. For everyone else, waiting for a full review before committing at this price point is the smarter choice.
