Vivo and OPPO have already launched their flagship smartphones, but another ‘Ultra’ model is reportedly being prepped. As the name suggests, the Ultra model will be the top-end offering in the flagship lineup, and the most expensive as well. Both the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra have been rumoured for some time, and now their camera specs have leaked online. The upcoming Ultra models are also tipped to launch in March in China, with a possible global release later.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra will feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor. It’s tipped to house another periscope telephoto lens, which will be a 50MP sensor with 10x optical zoom. That’s not it. The Find X9 Ultra is also tipped to feature a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. That’s quite a lot of cameras to fit in one phone, but it isn’t something new for OPPO, as we’ve already seen a similar setup in the previous Ultra models.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra, for context, has a quad-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide, and dual 50MP periscope telephoto lenses with 3x and 6x optical zoom. Although a similar setup, the upgrades would be major. Moving from 50MP to 200MP on the primary sensor would significantly increase detail capture, effectively improving digital zoom performance without major quality loss.
The telephoto system appears to be the most dramatic upgrade. The 10x optical zoom would extend true optical reach beyond the previous 6x limit while also improving clarity and low-light performance at longer focal lengths due to the larger sensor size.
The Vivo X300 Ultra, on the other hand, is said to feature a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP custom 35mm main camera with a larger 1/1.12-inch sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, and a 200MP telephoto lens with optical zoom from around 35mm up to 85mm. Vivo is reportedly upgrading the colour science and video capabilities for the X300 Ultra.
Also, both phones will launch with new teleconverter accessories, which will further improve their zoom capabilities.
Overall, both the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra are expected to take smartphone photography to an even higher level. It’s understood that these phones will be in the ultra-premium segment, catering to people who want the best cameras out of a phone and photography enthusiasts. There is chatter about the Find X9 Ultra and X300 Ultra possibly arriving in India after their China debut. This would mean new options for camera-centric phones in India, and an easy recommendation for photography enthusiasts who are willing to shell out that much. So if you’re considering a high-end camera phone now, these leaks suggest waiting might be beneficial for cutting-edge tech, but expect a premium price
