Vivo X500 Ultra camera details leak again; X500s could get a 68MP square selfie camera
Vivo’s next camera flagship could bring a notable upgrade to its telephoto hardware, while the company is also experimenting with a new front camera design for another X-series phone. Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has shared more details about the Vivo X500 Ultra‘s camera setup, alongside information about a 68MP square selfie camera being tested for an upcoming S-series model, which could be the Vivo X500s. The two developments suggest that Vivo is working on different camera upgrades for its next-generation flagship lineup.
Vivo X500 Ultra camera specifications tipped
According to DCS, the Vivo X500 Ultra will feature a 50MP front camera and a triple rear camera setup comprising two 50MP sensors and a 200MP sensor. The exact roles of the two 50MP cameras remain unclear, although the 200MP unit is expected to be the telephoto camera. The phone is also tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.

This follows an earlier leak suggesting that Vivo is testing a 200MP telephoto sensor with a large 1/1.12-inch format. The tipster has suggested Samsung as the supplier, although this remains unverified. For comparison, the Vivo X300 Ultra uses a 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. The larger sensor could capture more light, improving zoom photography in low-light conditions and retaining more detail.
Vivo X500s front camera tipped
In the same post on Weibo, DCS claims that Vivo is testing a 68MP Sony IMX05A square front camera for its next-generation S-series phone. This device could be the Vivo X500s, which is expected to launch alongside the X500 Ultra, and not one from Vivo’s mid-range S-series. Earlier reports suggest the X500s could feature a 6.85-inch 2K+ flat display with a 144Hz refresh rate and even bezels. Interestingly, this is similar to the display configuration tipped for the X500 Ultra.
The Vivo X300s also launched alongside the X300 Ultra, so the company could follow a similar launch strategy with their successors. The Vivo X500 Ultra is expected to launch in China between March and April 2027, with the X500s potentially debuting at the same event. Vivo has also brought the X300 Ultra to India at Rs 1,59,999, so an India launch for its successor is possible, but there’s been no ‘s’ model in X-series in the country yet. Buyers considering a premium camera phone may want to wait for the final sensor configuration and pricing, if they have the budget upward of Rs 1 lakh.
