WhatsApp ‘Noise cancellation’ feature

WhatsApp has reportedly rolled out the update with the functionality via version 2.26.14.1 for beta users on Android. The noise cancellation feature for voice and video calls on WhatsApp is expected to eliminate background noise, including traffic and wind, and prioritise the speaker’s sound instead for a clearer output. It will be similar to ‘voice isolation’ on iPhones and similarly-named features on many Android devices available on the native calling apps.

Per the screenshot of the WhatsApp feature shared by the source, there will be a toggle for the ‘Noise cancellation’ that can be enabled/ disabled from the messaging app’s calling menu. This addition is expected to noticeably improve call clarity, potentially bringing the app’s voice and video calling quality on par with, or even surpassing, traditional cellular calls. In turn, it could make WhatsApp a far more dependable option for everyday communication.
