After WWE 2K20 received bad reviews from players and critics alike, 2K took a short hiatus from its mainline WWE series to release WWE 2K Battlegrounds in 2021. The developer is now gearing up to release the next entry in WWE franchise, WWE 2K22. 2K has now revealed the cover star of WWE 2K22, who is long-time WWE superstar Rey Mysterio. Pre-orders for WWE 2K22 are now live and the developer has revealed all editions of the game. 2K has also dropped a new trailer for the upcoming WWE game.

In its official blog, the developer has detailed what you can expect from WWE 2K22. The game will come with several improvements to the gameplay engine, intuitive controls, and great visual effects. It also gets new game modes like MyGM and MyFaction, alongside the standard MyRise mode. In MyGM mode, players will get to play as a WWE General Manager and draft a roster of WWE superstars as well as decide exciting matches. Meanwhile, players will get to create and manage in new factions in MyFaction mode. Along with these, WWE 2K22 will feature an upgraded Creation Suite to enhance character creation, and the Universe mode that will let you create your own narrative and events.

WWE 2K22 release date, editions

WWE 2K22 is set to release on March 11th. The game will be available in four different versions, listed below:

WWE 2K22 standard edition: Base game experience
WWE 2K22 Cross-Gen bundle: Base game experience + Starrcade '96 Rey Mysterio pack (can be played across current and last generations of the same console)
WWE 2K22 Deluxe edition: Base game experience + Undertaker Immortal Pack + 1 season pass + 5 post-launch DLC packs + MyRise Mega-Boost and SuperCharger Packs + WWE Supercard content (physical copies only.

It should be noted that WWE 2K22 nWo 4-Life edition will be available three days before the official launch, which is on March 8, 2022.
