Xiaomi has confirmed the global and Indian colour options for the Xiaomi 17 series ahead of its February 28th launch event. The Xiaomi 17 debuted in China in September 2025, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December, and both phones are now set to expand their reach with minor tweaks for global regions. The Xiaomi 17 arrives with a wider, more expressive palette, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra keeps things restrained.

Globally, the Xiaomi 17 will be available in black, blue, pink and green. In India, Xiaomi has confirmed black and blue, while teasing a third finish that appears to be the same green variant shown internationally. The broader palette suggests Xiaomi wants the standard model to feel more personal and expressive.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is taking a more conservative route. Xiaomi has confirmed a Starlit Green option globally, but in India the phone has only been shown in black so far. Xiaomi appears to be using finishes to reinforce the Xiaomi 17 as the more lifestyle-oriented option and the Ultra as a camera-first flagship.

Beyond colours, the phones remain close to their China versions. Both run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and feature Leica-tuned triple rear cameras with 50MP selfie sensors. The Ultra continues to headline imaging with a 1-inch main sensor and a 200MP telephoto camera, while the Xiaomi 17 offers a smaller 6.3-inch display for those who prefer a more manageable form factor.

Pricing leaks place the Xiaomi 17 at around Rs 80,000 in India, with the Ultra expected near Rs 1,25,000. At this level, design and finish often influence decisions as much as specifications. Apple and Samsung have long used colour to refresh their lineups, and Xiaomi’s expanded options for the standard model suggest it is leaning into the same strategy.

Final confirmation of the India colour lineup will come at the February 28th launch event, where Xiaomi is also expected to unveil the Xiaomi Pad 8. The Xiaomi 17 appears aimed at users who want flagship performance in a relatively compact form factor, while the Ultra targets photography enthusiasts and power users who prioritise display size and camera hardware. Buyers comparing options in the Rs 80,000 – Rs 1,30,000 range will likely weigh Xiaomi’s Leica partnership and large sensors against Samsung’s ecosystem advantages and Apple’s reliability and long-term software support.
